This guide will go through the steps to customize the display of the narrative and adjust aspects of the language used within the narrative.
These features can all be found in the Settings Modal. After a narrative is generated, you can get to the narrative settings by clicking the gear icon.
Within Narrative Settings, you fill find several tabs. The guides in the help center will go into each of these in detail. This article is focused on "Language" and "Display"
When you click "Display" you will see the ability to apply text styles and adjust how the narrative will be rendered (bullets or paragraphs). You are also able to select your font size.
The rules you set for text styles are related to "Thresholds". These are the styles and colors that will be applied when you choose to format parts of the narrative based on thresholds of trend line or segment analysis.
When you click on the "Language" tab of Narrative Settings, you will see the ability to customize "Verbosity" and choose the language to describe dimensions.
1) Verbosity: When you choose "High", the narrative will be longer and go into more detail and perform more analytics. When you choose "Low", the narrative will be shorter with less detail.
2) At the bottom of the language settings, you will notice a list of the available dimensions that can be expanded. When you expand a dimension, you will see the way the dimension will be referenced both in singular and plural form.
3) In this example, we are measuring sales by month. So we can change the singular and plural dimension labels to "month" and "months"
You can click the "Add variation" button and fill in the text boxes if you want the extension to cycle through different references to the dimension.
